I was asked by the bride and her mother to come in and work as their Event Manager. To start it off, I have to say that these ladies were extremely organized and understood the process that had to happen in order to make the bride’s dream day a reality. When I come into an event (especially a wedding) at the end of the process and I did not partake in any planning, it is extremely difficult to know the vision and ins and outs. So you can image how crucial this info is.
Let’s start with the rehearsal. Friday morning, I headed to the Gallant residence (the bride’s parents) and everything was strategically loaded up in several vehicles.
Once at the rehearsal hall we had 3 hours to unload and set up everything before the rehearsal began. Promptly at 5:00pm the rehearsal began and I took the time to check on decor and catering load in and to review/run through everything for the big day.

With a very successful evening and a happy wedding party, I was eager to make this wedding as seamless as possible! 6:00 am rolled around quickly. The wedding was scheduled to begin at 2:00pm and there was more things to do than there was time to do it!
Everything was coming together perfectly! It was 12:30pm and everyone is on schedule.
Than it started… The groomsmen were 30 minutes late and all contacts cell phones were off. Guests were starting to arrive so without ushers, myself and the Pastor welcomed guests as the lingered in from the freezing cold. There were some minor problems with the venue, decor and Barista details, although that mattered very little when the bride’s mother texts me saying “DO NOT SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE! we are having Limo trouble” this was followed by a phone call, informing me that the beautiful, pink, stretched limo was broken down and the company was not sending another one (the company was highly rude with the bride’s parents and hung up on them). So now I have no groomsmen and a bridal party stuck on the highway, in the -20 weather with no heat. The bride’s mother was insisting I did not tell Davy (the groom) about the limo issues. Meanwhile, Davy is STILL not there yet. And yes, the almost all the guests had arrived.
As I sent them photos of the venue all decked out, they tried to make the best of their time waiting.
The bridal party did a good job at keeping calm while they waited for there back up limo.

The groomsmen showed up around 1:15pm and the new (new is a loose term!) limo showed up at 2:00pm, getting the bridal party to the venue for 2:30pm and the minor details had sorted themselves out before the ceremony began! A half hour behind schedule, that being said, everything fell back into place simultaneously!! It was a great thing to have the calm during the ceremony. It gave everyone time to relieve their sense of panic.
As the night went on, everything went perfectly. A great dinner, catered by a chef that Amber (the bride) use to work for. He dressed up in hot pink just for the bride (she is a pink fanatic).
After the speeches we and dessert we opened up the dance room!
Always great to witness an event run smoothly, especially in weddings! It is such an important day for people and there is so much time, energy, dreaming, planning, money, emotions etc. put into someone’s wedding day. I am proud to say I was able to help make this dream become a reality for these families!
